She published academic research. She earned a Master’s degree. Then she pivoted into the world of remote work, and never looked back. This is the story of one of Afrisource Hub’s most reliable professionals.
Recruiting Specialist · Afrisource Hub
Bridget Eromosele Akowe has a published research article listed on ResearchGate. She holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Geophysics from Rivers State University in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. By any conventional measure, she was on a well-defined academic path.
Then she decided to pivot, completely. Into digital work, remote operations, and talent recruitment. And she didn’t look back once.
Today, she works as a Recruiting Specialist at Afrisource Hub, connecting U.S. businesses with Africa’s best remote professionals. She sources candidates, manages pipelines, runs outreach campaigns, creates content, and keeps the entire hiring process running without friction. It is a role that requires equal parts analytical rigor and human intuition, and her background, it turns out, gave her both.
“Growth is uncomfortable, but so is staying the same.”
– Bridget Eromosele Akowe · Recruiting Specialist, Afrisource Hub
That quote isn’t just something she repeats. It is the operating principle behind every decision she has made professionally. She moved from seismic data to candidate pipelines. She learned new tools without formal training. She stepped into unfamiliar industries and delivered from day one. Every time she was uncomfortable, she stayed anyway, and got better.
Bridget’s academic journey is genuinely impressive, and the fact that she walked away from a purely scientific career to build something new in the remote work space makes it even more compelling.
Degree: M.Sc. & B.Sc. Geophysics, Rivers State University · Port Harcourt, Nigeria — published on ResearchGate.
What her background built: Analytical (pattern recognition & data-driven problem solving), Systematic (managing complex pipelines and coordinating workflows), Adaptable (learning fast in unfamiliar environments without a manual).
One achievement she speaks about with genuine pride is completing her Master’s degree and producing a technical research article from her dissertation, work that was subsequently listed on ResearchGate publications. That is not a small thing. It required months of focused research, rigorous writing, and the kind of follow-through that most people abandon the moment things get hard.
And here is the insight that matters for U.S. businesses: a geophysicist doesn’t just know science. They are trained to analyze complex systems under uncertainty, to manage processes methodically, and to find patterns where others see noise. Those skills transfer, directly and powerfully, into recruiting, operations, and remote work.
At Afrisource Hub, Bridget’s role sits at the intersection of people, process, and performance. She supports the recruitment process by identifying, engaging, and matching candidates to roles, but that headline undersells what the job actually involves.
She has worked on recruitment outreach campaigns, candidate sourcing, social media content creation, customer communication, call reviews, and virtual assistant operations across different remote roles. She manages engagement across LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, and X. She reviews and evaluates client calls. She coordinates administrative tasks. She builds communication systems that improve responsiveness across entire teams.
In her own words, she is the person who steps in to organize things when processes feel scattered. And that instinct, to bring clarity to chaos, is exactly what makes her indispensable.
Core strengths: Recruitment & Candidate Sourcing (95%), Client Communication (92%), Social Media Strategy (88%), Content Creation & Digital Marketing (85%), CRM & Workflow Organization (90%), Virtual Assistance & Operations (87%).
Tools she uses daily: GoHighLevel CRM, Google Workspace, Canva, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit & X, email platforms, scheduling tools, Meetup and Eventbrite.
Bridget has worked across real estate associations, NGOs, digital marketing agencies, and virtual assistant operations. Across every context, the pattern of her impact is consistent.
0 client escalations tied to her process · 5+ social platforms actively managed for clients · revenue, leads & response times improved across engagements.
The numbers above are the surface. The real story is in the challenges she solved along the way. Here are three, in her own words:
1. Payment Processing Crisis — Resolved declined credit card transactions and payment-related issues for clients, ensuring successful processing and a smooth client experience without escalation.
2. Membership Access Failures — Identified root causes of membership benefit access issues and coordinated timely resolutions for affected users, protecting the client experience throughout.
3. Real Estate Lead Generation — Generated new leads and successfully renewed expired memberships for a real estate association, demonstrating follow-through from outreach all the way to conversion.
Afrisource Hub connects U.S. businesses with vetted, degree-holding African professionals. Book a free call, and meet your candidates within days.
When you ask Bridget what motivates her, she doesn’t give a polished corporate answer. She talks about growth, independence, and building something meaningful. She talks about the desire to keep improving. And she talks about a lesson her journey has quietly reinforced again and again:
“You don’t always need to have everything figured out before you start. Clarity often comes through action.”
– Bridget Akowe · On what she’s learned
The challenge that shaped her most? Adjusting from a technical academic background into digital and remote roles, learning to adapt quickly in unfamiliar environments. She didn’t wait for permission to start. She started, and figured it out as she went.
The values that guide her are not abstract either. They show up in how she communicates, how she handles pressure, and how she approaches roles she has never done before: Discipline, Consistency, Adaptability, Honesty in communication, Follow-through, Reliability.
“Growth is uncomfortable, but so is staying the same.”
Bridget’s life motto
Here is the part that surprises most people who know Bridget only through her work profile. She is a fashion designer. She creates original garments from fabric, a hands-on creative practice that reveals the same eye for detail and structural thinking that makes her excellent at what she does professionally.
She is also, by her own honest admission, naturally shy. Not awkward, just shy. She communicates clearly and professionally, but she gravitates toward low-key environments and does not enjoy being the center of attention. That quiet quality, it turns out, makes her a better listener, a more careful communicator, and a more thoughtful team member.
What she does outside of work: Fashion design (creates original designs from fabric), reading (a wide reader across many domains), writing (personal writing & creative content), digital skills (always learning new tech tools), online communities (active in digital spaces & communities), and community (engages meaningfully with her community).
Outside of work, she spends time learning, engaging with online communities, and improving her professional skills. She is not someone who clocks out and stops growing. The curiosity that drove her through a Master’s in Geophysics is the same curiosity that keeps her developing new skills in the remote work space.
When asked who inspires her, Bridget doesn’t name a recruiting influencer or a corporate icon. She is drawn to people who have completely reinvented themselves and succeeded in entirely different fields, because their stories are proof that adaptability and continuous growth can take you further than any single career path.
Vera Wang — A competitive figure skater who became one of the world’s most iconic fashion designers. Proof that a creative reinvention is always possible.
Andrea Bocelli — Trained as a lawyer before becoming a world-celebrated tenor. His path shows that your first career doesn’t define your ceiling.
Jeff Bezos — Built a bookstore into global infrastructure. A reminder that disciplined curiosity compounds into something far larger than the starting point suggests.
She doesn’t aspire to be any of them specifically. She draws confidence from the shared proof they represent: that the career you start with does not have to be the career that defines you.
Bridget is not drifting. She knows exactly where she wants to go, and she is building toward it with intention.
Right now — Recruiting Specialist, Afrisource Hub. Growing in recruitment and talent strategy. Learning advanced recruitment strategies, digital communication, and process optimization. Developing AI-assisted workflow skills.
5 years — Senior Talent Acquisition or Operations Leader. Leading recruitment systems and helping teams scale more effectively. Building efficient, people-centered hiring processes that work for everyone in them.
Long term — PhD in Geophysics. She hasn’t left her academic roots behind; just deferred them. A doctorate in Geophysics remains a long-term goal. But first, she is building something meaningful here.
“I want to grow into a strong recruitment and talent strategy role where I can contribute to building efficient, people-centered hiring systems.”
– Bridget Akowe · On her career goals
She is currently developing advanced skills in recruitment strategy, digital communication, process optimization, and AI tools for productivity and research. In her own framing, she does not wait for a title change before thinking at the level she wants to reach. She is already doing it.
